ASSESSMENT
Depending on the age of the client, the assessment will look at receptive language (use of language), expressive language (understanding of language), speech sounds, fluency, voice, play skills, social communication skills, and/or pre-literacy skills. The assessment can be 1 hour to 3 hours in length.
THERAPY
Therapy is typically a 45 minute session. A session can also be 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Therapy sessions target the goals addressed in the assessment. Each therapy session is unique to the client's needs.
COUNSELLING
Counselling is provided through education, guidance and support. This will also include interactions related to emotional reactions, thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that may result from speech and language and communication delays or disorders.
COLLABORATION
At Stepping Stones, there are relationships with Physicians, Audiologists and other health professionals in the surrounding area, along with other Speech-Language Pathologists, Resource Consultants, Occupational Therapists through the Preschool Speech and Language Program through Children's Development Services at Royal Victoria Hospital.
